Sneak preview

This blog is intended as a welcome,  and sneak preview of things to come.    In future blogs I’ll share a few of my adventures and travels as well as information about my gear, and ways to make your cultural experiences more fulfilling.  And, I’m always interested to hear your ideas, best practices, and comments. 

The importance of exploring

Thinking about exploration and travel in unprecedented times such as these can seem a bit daunting and distant.  However for me it all starts with dreaming and planning so no better time than now while the world is on COVID-19 lockdown!   Why do we do what we do?  Most likely, if you’re looking at my website you believe like I do, that each and every one of us has the potential to explore.  Stepping into the unknown has always been for me a very private and personal choice which is why I guess I often struggle to find an answer when someone ask me “Why do you take the risk?” or “Why do you go to those places?”  Maybe it’s the same for you.   I guess I just feel complete when I’m out exploring.

It’s great when a plan comes together

Getting ready for a trip is almost as exciting as the trip itself and it’s not all about the gear.   For me it begins by digging into the particular destination’s culture, and connecting with others that have gone before me to get some insights into their experiences.  There are many other aspects of planning a trip such as topography, what I intend to capture, as well as what camera and trekking gear I’ll need however more on all of this in a later post.
